Peter K Mair
Mr. Mair attended the University of Michigan on a football scholarship and graduated with a B.A. in English Literature, a minor in Natural Science and a State of Michigan teaching certificate.
After teaching Advanced Biology at a Michigan high school, Mr. Mair attended Stanford Law School in 1968 where he met Jim Rummonds. Mr. Mair was the editor of the first National Environmental Law Newsletter and managed the Legal Aid Society.
Mr. Mair received his Juris Doctor degree in 1971 and was hired by the United States Department of Justice under its honors program to be an Assistant United States Attorney in Washington D.C.
Mr. Mair tried over 100 jury trials to verdict including eleven murder trials while in the nation’s capitol. He then became a federal prosecutor in Seattle, Washington. where he headed the Political Corruption Unit. Mr. Mair successfully investigated and convicted a variety of local elected officials and politicians on corruption charges, including the City Engineer for the City of Seattle, the Speaker of the State House of Representatives and the Sheriff of Pierce County.
In 1979, Mr. Mair began the private practice of law in the State of Washington and in 1982 in the State of California with Jim Rummonds, forming the firm of Rummonds & Mair.
Mr. Mair has taught other trial lawyers and law students trial techniques at Stanford Law School, the University of San Francisco Law School, the University of Washington Law School, NITA, WACDL, the State of Hawaii and the United States Department of Justice.
Mr. Mair has authored numerous articles and is a columnist. He has been listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" since its inception.
